Beyond Ourselves is partnering with businesses in the UK offering them the opportunity to connect with a school community in Zambia. It has been our experience that when a business decides to engage with a Zambian community they not only make a difference in Zambia but there is also a positive impact on the business here in the UK.
Connecting with businesses here in the UK has been a major part of resourcing and developing the schools we partner with in Zambia. Stephen James BMW are serious about investing their time, skill and profit and has sent 6 teams over the past 3 years to work alongside local Zambians building the schools and developing the child sponsorship programme. They continue to connect with the schools by sponsoring children and raising awareness and funds in ever increasing creative ways! Big & Red Storage sponsor 8 children in Zambia, 4 of whom are sponsored simply by selling crisps and chocolate to their customers!
Businesses can get involved at any level, from having a donation box in the office, to putting on an event, joining in some of our sponsored events, sponsoring children, buying alternative gifts or even sending some of their employees on a team to Zambia.
Also, part of the vision at Beyond Ourselves is to help develop local income-generating businesses around each of the schools we partner with so that local economy and employment increase and the school can in time become self-financing. This is a great opportunity for businesses here in the UK to help inspire new initiatives and train up those who will be a part of them.
